The first way is that you heat the tamarind by grilling or steaming it. Then you take the flesh of the tamarind to cover the sprained or swollen area. This remedy will help you to reduce the pain and quickly recover from the sprained ankle.

You can also soak tamarind in a glass of water, and then decant its water. After that, you boil this water; add one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of sugar. You cook the mixture until it thickens as glue. Applying this thick mixture to the sprained area when it is still hot every day will help you to overcome the condition.

Garlic Wine

Garlic is one of the natural remedies that are effective in treating sprained ankle because it contains glucose phytonite and alliin. These ingredients are beneficial for antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.

First, you peel some cloves of garlic. Then, you slice or crush garlic and soak them in 40-degree white wine for ten days until the wine turns the yellow color of turmeric.

Garlic wine can be used to drink or put on inflamed areas. You should drink twice a day, in the morning before having breakfast and in the evening before going to bed. Just a small spoon for each time is enough.

Another way is that you apply a moderate amount of garlic wine to the swollen ankle, then rub and squeeze lightly.

Curry + Lime Juice

The powder of curry leaves combined with lemon juice can reduce the swelling. This way also brings great effects when you have fluid-containing swelling or suffer from burns.


Shallot is also one of the good remedies for sprained ankle. With its anti-inflammatory properties, shallot is useful for reducing the swelling, pain, and inflammation.

You cut some onions to cover the ankle, and then take a cloth to wrap this area tightly. You press it with your hands for about 10 minutes. Taking these steps for twice or three times a day will help you get rid of sprains.

Castor Oil

Castor oil contains ricin oleic acid, which is strong enough fight against inflammation and relieve pain promptly.
